Lessen gap between train and platform
Several serious platform gap mutilation incidents and a deaths are frequent in Mumbai and other railway stations in India.
So many people are losing their lives due to BIG gap between train footboard and platform. Below is the real painful story of a sister who lost her brother in recent train accident.

I, Dr. Pushpa Gohil, with grief and deep agony want to draw your attention towards the serious issue of wide gap between the rake and platform in Mumbai local railway stations. My eldest brother Mr. Ramesh Kanji Gohil aged 45yrs. was working in B.M.C. at Bandra residing at Tilaknagar with small and happy family comprising of wife and 2 kids.
On 6th oct 2018 he was returning from office as usual with lot many plans of upcoming festivals Navaratri and Diwali and his sweet daughter's b'day. At Chunabhatti station while boarding the train he lost his balance and slipped into the gap and got crushed by the train leaving all of us stunned and traumatised. Our family is completely destroyed. All our dreams shattered. Its almost 2 months and still we are not being able to come out of the grief of losing our loved one.
And all this has happened because of the KILLER GAP between the rake and the platform. If there was no gap he might have escaped with serious or minor injuries. My question to you is- who is responsible for his fatal accident? How many more lives will be scarified due to the ignorance? How many more families will be destroyed because of this issue? Why everyday commuters have to travel at their own risk? Why after so many accidents taken place in past many years railway hasn't taken stringent action to increase the platform heights at all such vulnerable stations yet? or mitigate the risk of people being slipped into the gap.
Our family has faced irreparable loss by losing our patriarch. Hence its an earnest and humble request to all of you to come together and make ONE voice to the authority to get this issue handled on priority. Government has to take immediate action to bridge this wide gap so that further sacrifies of valuable human lives can be averted. I agree that railway had indeed taken action and raised the platform heights. But ONLY at few stations. After that the work again stopped leaving commuters travel precariously. I would be grateful to you if you look into this matter personally and prevent further mishaps.
Looking for positive supoport.
Together we CAN and we WILL make a difference.
Dr. Pushpa Gohil
