Petition to Install Street Lights on 436 Semoran Blvd.
In January, 2012, 28 year old Michael Pandel, a beloved member of the community, was killed while crossing Semoran Blvd on his bicycle in Orlando, FL. He left behind a grieving mother, two younger sisters, and hundreds of friends, family members, fans, and colleagues.
His was just one of three pedestrian/cyclist deaths on Semoran Blvd in the last year and a half between Hanging Moss Road and 21 Century Blvd. near Baldwin Park. All of these occurred in the evening as Semoran has virtually no lighting on this half mile stretch of road making it extremely dangerous to residents and visitors to Baldwin Park and the surrounding areas.
We are therefore asking the City of Orlando and the neighboring communities and businesses to support us in our efforts to make Orlando safer by installing street lights on Semoran Blvd. These lights will help ensure that drivers can properly identify pedestrians and cyclists crossing the street and significantly decrease the mortality risk from traffic accidents in the Baldwin Park area.
We have drafted this petition to raise community awareness and support for our cause. Please help us by signing below and visit www.FindYourMAP.org for more information.
