The length of the lunch period at Sharpsburg Elementary was shortened to 20 minutes this year. It was 30 minutes before this year. There was no explanation available as to why lunches were shortened. If children buy a hot lunch, the time they have left to eat their lunch will likely be 10 minutes or less. We all know that our kids need to have full bellies to maximize learning! Please sign this if you support lengthening the lunch period to 30 minutes, as it was previously. This decision was not made at the county level, but by Mr. Hench.

Ridiculous that they cut the time. Kids need a break to actually socialize and digest. Change it back now.

My daughter comes home with a full thermos every day because she says they keep telling them to hurry up. How are they supposed to learn if they are starving by 1pm?

20 mins is not enough time to even get through the line let alone eat. My son is always complaining he has to throw away perfectly good food because the bell rings. FIX THIS!

It takes them 5 mins just to sit down and open their milk. 15 mins to eat is barely enough for an adult, let alone a growing kid.

(Penny Strite) When the grandkids get off at my house two days a week I have noticed over half their lunch is still in their lunch boxes. I asked why they didn't eat more of it. They said Nanny we don't have enough time. breaks my heart. :( I know my boys and they can eat. Concerned Nanny!

Our lives are too busy already. Let's not rush our children during their lunch times. My son has actually asked me to pack him less food because he said he doesn't get enough time to eat anymore. Bring back the 30 minute lunch.
