Keep Luther College Upward Bound a Running Program
President Obama is planning on getting rid of 200 TRiO Upward Bound programs through his FY2011 budget request. One of the Upward Bound Programs is at Luther college in Decorah, Iowa. Upward Bound is a really important program because Upward Bound does work. 95% of Upward Bound students actually get post-secondary education. Before I joined Upward Bound I never really wanted to get into a college, but because of being an Upward Bounder I want to get into a great college for future cooks. Not only that, being in Upward Bound has helped me to be more confident. Upward Bound helps low income families earn money for college. Upward Bound is important to the region because more people are graduating college and becoming successful, which makes more people happy. Please sign this petition so that Luther College Upward Bound can stay a program and help more Northeast Iowans get into a college.
