Save Losehill Hall
Background
For the past 40 years, Losehill Hall has provided an outstanding educational training and conference service, and has won an international reputation for excellence. It not only delivers training and learning for children, schools, teachers, families and communities within the Peak District National Park and the surrounding conurbations, but it has taught people from all over the world of the value and unique nature of our National Parks. It would be a tragedy if all this were to end merely to make short term savings.
The Peak District National Park Authority, at its meeting on 24th September, agreed that the Hall should close at the end of March 2011, unless a suitable partner can be found. The Authority is now in consultation with possible partners and the public
There is a chance to save the Hall, if the Authority receives and accepts a tender from a body able to provide learning and training opportunities at a national level to complement the Authority's own reduced learning service. The timetable is very short.
The Authority will take its decision on Friday 3 December
This is our last chance to save Losehill Hall and we must persuade the members to take the right decision. Please ask the authority to assist a transfer to an appropriate successor and to give more time if that is necessary.
The Petition
I, the undersigned,
call upon the Peak District National Parks Authority to reject the option to
close Losehill Hall at their meeting on 3rd December 2010. Further, we ask the
Peak District National Park Authority to give both time and resources to identifying a suitable partner to run
the Hall so that its acclaimed programme of environmental education is
maintained, for the benefit of all sections of society.
