Make Negros Power Answer to the People
We the consumers of Negros Power residing here in Bacolod express our huge disappointment over what we observe as deteriorating services of the Negros Power Corporation since they took over the management and responsibility of providing electricity to residents of Bacolod City from CENECO. Since then, we experience more frequent power interruptions and slower resolutions of power interruptions and longer Estimated Time of Resumption of power in areas which dont frequently experience these problems. We also observe more frequent power loss even if the weather is relatively not severe. These frequent technical problems have been experienced despite regular maintance periods performed by NEGROS POWER which involves 12–hour-no-power in the area. When Negros Power took over, they promised us a better, more improved services to their consumers. But based on our experience, we have only experienced poorer, slower service from Negros Power.
We are disgusted by the lack of more long lasting solutions from Negros Power to address the problems related to electrification in most of our areas. Because of this, there is negative impact on our local businesses, interruptions in connectivity that are critical to school and work, and it also results to poor quality of living in Bacolod City.
We are angry towards the seemingly POOR service which does not commensurate with the amount we consumers are paying to Negros Power. Negros Power is one of those corporations which charge a relatively more expensive rate in the Philippines. And yet we dont feel and experience the value which we pay for.
We lament the lack of action from our local government unit. We demand that our city officials should call out the attention of Negros Power and give them an ultimatum- that they should improve their services and ensure that consumers get what they pay for. If actions were or are being taken already, we believe that they can do more.
We urge National government to take a look at the situation here in Bacolod City and take an objective assessment of the performance of Negros Power and make accountable if needed those who contribute to this poor service, investigate if there are violations of the law in the process, and prosecute if applicable and provide support where needed in order to help address if not mitigate the abovementioned problems with the consumer’s interest in mind.
We finally urge Negros power to improve their services. If they continue to provide poor quality of service to its consumers we demand the resignation of its managing board.
