I was shocked and disappointed in hearing about how the Marshall Chapter of the FFA has exploited the health and safety of humans and animals alike for the purpose of entertainment. Each year, schools, clubs, organizations, and recreation departments across the country use donkey basketball games as fundraisers. During these games, donkeys are dragged around a court and mishandled by participants who have little or no experience with donkeys —the animals are often shoved, kicked, dragged, yelled at, or whipped when they don’t cooperate. I refuse to participate in or attend these cruel events and urge local officials, organizations and sponsors to adopt a policy against holding and sponsoring donkey basketball games, or any other events that exploit animals.
