This Union Notes 1. That the Union has a project known as ‘Made in Goldsmiths’ 2. That there is a space in the Union building, previously called ‘The Green Room’ and used for student-led meetings, events and exhibitions 3. That this is now referred to as ‘The Gallery’ and its use is denied to students wishing to use the space without having consulted far in advance with the unelected director of ‘Made in Goldsmiths’. 4. That Goldsmiths caters for art, drama, music and creative students alongside social science and computing students amongst others This Union Believes 1. That this project is undemocratically run, without consultation with the membership 2. That it therefore does not act in the interests of the broad spectrum of the membership 3. That The Green Room space can be positively employed by a broad spectrum of the membership, beyond those involved in the creative departments and should be open to use in such a manner alongside its use as an artistic gallery 4. That the current management of the Made in Goldsmiths project limits the ability of the membership to get involved and benefit 5. That there are planned exhibitions for The Gallery that are not presenting work by, or organised by, the current student membership This Union Resolves 1. To maintain the Made in Goldsmiths project and hold a public consultation with the membership on the aims and objectives of the project, to be reviewed annually. 2. To bring the Made in Goldsmiths project under the democratic control of the whole membership through the Student Assembly in which voting, in light of the public consultation (Resolves 1.), can take place that shapes its future trajectory 3. To publish and make available on the Union website the following details: budget, sources of income, expenditure and booking allocation for the Made in Goldsmiths project 4. That The Green Room space should return to its status as a space for use by all students throughout the year whilst maintaining the positive aspects of the Made in Goldsmiths project in showcasing the upcoming creative talent of the membership 5. That the space continues to be available as an exhibition space, with the following structure to the bookings process: 35% of bookings up to four months in advance, 50% of bookings available only within 4 weeks and the remaining 15% available for use under the leadership of elected officers in the interests of campaign awareness. These percentages should be roughly maintained within +/- 10% and there should be an even spread allocated to peak and off-peak times and days. That the exhibitions and art-work displayed should either be by current students or organised by current students 6. For the resolves of this motion to be enacted no later than 2 calendar months after its passing
