We are concerned voters and citizens of our newly formed city of Milton, and residents of Fulton County. A 150 ft. elevated water tower has been approved for construction by Fulton County Commissioners. The water tower is to be located on Freemanville Road. The reason given is that the northwest Fulton County has inadequate water pressure due to its distance from the water plant, area ground elevation, and the inability of Fulton County Public works to fill the current ground level water tank located at Freemanville Road. Pritchard Mountain Water LLC (a consortium of four land developers) has designed a comprehensive water delivery system enabling adequate water pressure using a pumping station. Fulton county Public works still intends to build a 150 ft water tower to replace this pumping station as a means of enabling adequate water pressure and storage redundancy. Independant engineers indicate an adequate water solution can be achieved by building a back-up pump and ground level water tank. Many cities across the United States, including the City of Atlanta, do not use elevated water towers for this purpose due to high rise buildings. The City of Atlanta has 40-60 story buildings where water pumps are reliably utilized to create water pressure and system redundancy.
