Missouri Children Need Safe Child Care!
Over 300,000 Missouri children under age 6 have working parents. This means that many are likely in the care of someone other than a parent every day, every week. Parents want their children to be safe in child care. The budget passed by the Missouri House cuts $7.4 million in child care funding. This will make it more difficult for hard working Missouri families with young children to find safe child care. Already Missouri ranks near the bottom of all states with regard to standards and oversight for child care settings. We cannot afford to cut child care funding, which will leave our most vulnerable population, our state's youngest children, to chance. In fact, given accidents and deaths in child care, we need more investments in Missouri child care safety, not less! We urge the Senate to reject the House budget cuts and restore child care funding TODAY! Missouri children need safe child care --working families depend on it.
