The Northeast has been suffering from extreme cold and weekly snow storms. We all thought 2014 was bad! It's only February 2015 and it's already worse! How are the Division I, II, and III men's and women's lacrosse teams going to prepare for their February games? That's what all coaches and players are thinking right now. Rearranging schedules to get gym time, spending a lot of money trying to clear fields, trying to endure outside practice through the whipping winds and snow and ice. WHY?
We need to move lacrosse season! Have it begin in March, let them play through June.
Championship Weekend is played Memorial Day Weekend; with a steady decrease in attendance over the past six years, why not change it? Move Championship Weekend into June- perhaps Father's Day Weekend.
Give the Division I, II, and III teams time to practice, learn their skills, and be game day ready- in March!
Or just scrap this idea all together and make lacrosse a Fall sport!
