Mr Dwyer is an esteemed and beloved teacher whose one wish is to own a shiny new Macbook. Help this man achieve his well-deserved dream by signing this petition and showing your lovely support

"Mr Dwyer is a half decent teacher. He is very kind; once he let me leave that class for a moment in order to have a sip of water. He stays up late to mark my tests. However, we all feel a collective pang of sadness when we see him bent over his 2012 MacBook Pro in his classroom. 2012. Was I even born then? It is like a scene from Victorian England; the worker squinting in the half light of the dark satanic mill on the banks of the River Derwent as he picks at the tangled cotton threads in the jammed up loom. I fear for his health. The 2012 Retina display is obsolete causing Mr Dwyer’s eyes to redden and fail. He’s already half deaf. The old style keyboard which lacks the new butterfly mechanism keys of the 2018 edition has rendered his fingers bloody stumps. And more than the physical toll that is evident in his increasingly decrepit demeanour, is Mr Dwyer’s daily humiliation arising from the constant jarring realisation that his students all have shiny new space grey MacBook Pros with TouchBar and 8th Generation Intel Quad-Core processor and he has…. well, you’ve seen what Mr Dwyer has.

What can be done for poor Mr Dwyer? It won’t take much. A small investment is all. Might Mr Dwyer be allowed to spend a small portion of his earnings to buy himself a new MacBook. Not even a MacBook Pro. Just a plain MacBook. You know, one of the thin ones. Or maybe a MacBook Air with finger print recognition that may still work with Mr Dwyer’s worn digits. Because by allowing Mr Dwyer to invest in and safeguard his own well-being, Mr Dwyer will be investing in us. In our futures. Because he will be like a teacher reborn. A teacher who looks up and remembers….. remembers what it is to see with clear, unwatered eyes. To see his students and their progress accelerated. To see our destinies and the small part he plays in their unfolding. To see…. his 220 ppi native resolution Retina Display and its millions of rainbow colours.

So. Let’s see reason. Allow Mr Dwyer a new MacBook."

Updates

May 2, 2019

The momentum surrounding our effort to modernize Mr Dwyer's classroom equipment has become truly significant. It is gratifying to observe such a clear consensus regarding the necessity of upgrading his aging technology. We are currently preparing to present this collective sentiment to the administration.

I must say, Y10 chemistry sounds thrilling. It’s a shame I’m not in Y10. Woe is me.

Mr Dwyer you humiliated me in the cycling reading competition but I feel bad just because your class don’t know the difference between the 2012 that doesn’t have a Retina display and the 2015 which does. If I didn’t feel bad then he shouldn’t waste his money but he teaches Anton Zhulkovosky so he must be cool.

Well, how very kind you all are. I went to the Apple Store the other day. Unaccompanied. Mrs Dwyer refused to come with me. So I was alone. Apart from my eldest daughter, Lilou. She's a beautiful and kind little girl. She said, 'Daddy. Why are you crying?' I said, 'I'm not crying little Lilou. It's just a speck of dust and the light reflecting off the Burj and that 15 inch Retina display over there.' She said, 'Oh Daddy. I know when you're sad. Let's go and have a Cinnabon.' So as I sat there, chewing over my sweet bun, sipping my bitter coffee and regarding those weeping worn digits, I was able to juxtapose the hard grind of my digital life with the joy I experience every day when I am greeted by those that have supported The Campaign. Some have signed the petition. Some have brought me food. The knowing winks and nods with which you have signalled your solidarity and your acknowledgement of my plight. Who knows if I will ever be permitted another bite of the Apple? Who knows if I will ever experience the quiet satisfaction that comes as one caresses the oliphatic surface of a Touch Bar I can call my own. But should this never happen, I will forever be, in your collective debt. Yours. Ever. Mr Dwyer.
