The court order for euthanasia has been rescinded following our presentation of the evidence. We are currently finalizing the release paperwork to bring Rebel home. I will monitor the site for any remaining conditions set by animal control to ensure his long-term safety.

We have had Rebel since he was born, three years ago in July. We recently moved into a house on the water in New Kent and our neighbors have chickens. After months of these chickens coming on to our property, clucking and pestering the life out of my dog; Rebel was only curious and wanted to make new friends. One morning my mom was taking him out for a walk, the leash didn't clasp entirely and Rebel got loose, instantly he ran next door to do nothing but say hello. Yes rebel is a 100 pound Pitt Bull and is a lot stronger than us let alone any chicken. Keep in mind we have two other dogs.. Rebel payed alittle harder than the chickens could handle and some of them didn't make it. The thing is, rebel doesn't have a mean bone in his body, he was only playing and didn't intentionally kill those chickens. The neighbor took my mom to court and the Judge sentenced Rebel to euthanization by this Friday..

Anyone who has the love for animals that we do will know this wasn't done purposely . It would be different if it was a domestic animal like a cat or dog or even a human being, but for crying out loud we eat chicken! And no one ever says anything about hunting dogs killing deer and geese and whatever else for recreational purposes... This dog is my heart and soul, he's my family. This was his first time ever hurting anything. He doesn't deserve to die for this. Please sign this petition, it would mean the world, a life .

We have reached one hundred signatures. I am currently preparing a formal letter to submit to the judge before the deadline. Legal counsel is reviewing the documentation of these events to support our stay of execution request.

This family is willing to do what it takes to save this dog and he should NOT be euthanized. He is a member of their family. And, by the way, the chickens owner should have kept his chickens in a coop the whole time and that would avoided any incident.

Everyone have a chance including animal who once make mistakes. Hope the authority will consider to make the owner compensate to the neighborhood and send the dog to a professional trainer compulsory. Please educate and give this dog a chance to live again.

No dog deserves to be euthanized for accidentally killing birds or squirrels because they were trying to play. If this had been a lab the judge would have maybe fined them and moved on. The fact he's a pittie is the only reason he was sentenced to death.

I think the law needs to be rewritten! It's so sad for this to have happened ! I seriously doubt they have their chickens sleep in their bed, like a pet would. Question : If a raccoon or hawk gets a chicken , who goes to court ! .

I had a similar situation with my 2 huskies and a cat not one but two cats. Bigger dogs get a bad reputation. The first time something happens people always want to Euthanize a pet. Very playful large pets, family members. I hope this petition works.

Hey whoever this person is that's starting this petition needs to get in touch with Stephanie ruso for channel 12 news. She wants to do a story with you but don't have your name. She wants to stop the dog from going through this.

Rebel needs your protection, not a death sentence.

Wrong to kill a puppy for this.A fine would have been the correct decision.l
