The Name Changing of Nashville Automotive-Diesel College
The Name Changing of Nashville Automotive-Diesel College
We the students at Lincoln Institute formally known as Nashville Auto-Diesel College oppose the name change that took place on September 8, 2012. This name change has students and the community very displeased with the taking away something the city has been proud of for almost hundred years. We believe the name should be changed back to NADC (Nashville Auto-Diesel College).
For almost one hundred years NADC has been a leader in technical training; that provides some of the best trained technicians in the automotive, diesel and collision fields. NADC has the highest accreditation of any automotive training school; Lincoln is not a known name in this community. We the student’s feel this discredits our school by denying our accredited history of this historical institute by changing its name.
Since this name change occurred to this historical institution, it will deprive the community of Nashville, TN the honor that follows the name. NADC has also been denied its One hundredth anniversaries by Seven years that would have been an event to celebrate; now the meaning gone because of the name change. Our school survived the hardest times in American history, the Great Depression, Vietnam, and both the World wars. Lincoln has only been in the automotive field since 1948 whereas NADC has been here since 1919. NADC should stay the primary name of this school.
We feel that little time was taken with considering the true value and affects this change would have on this community and city. We, the students would have named the school: Nashville Automotive-Diesel College, Lincoln Group Member
We believe this is an acceptable solution to what has already taken place. Thank you for reading and taking in considerations the feelings of past, present, and future NADC students.
