New policy for school uniform and appearance requirements
Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Gateshead, has set out a new policy which restricts individuality and expression of the individual. Their new uniform policy has commanded that "long hair must be tied back at all times" and that "hairstyles and colours must be deemed socially expectable by the school". This indirectly discriminates the individuality of girls as well as some males who all have long hair. There are many articles on such topic mentioning that wearing long hair tied up damage the hair as well as making the individuals prone to headaches. As for colours and styles, it is all opinion based and teacher judgement may be bias depending on the student. In this current day and age almost everything is socially expectable which suggests the school will not base such opinions on the real belief of society from this current generation.
