Skateboarding is one of the most popular and fast-growing sports in America. It is the sixth-largest participant sport in the US and the third largest for participants ages six through eighteen. There have been more public skateparks built in the past three years than in the previous twenty. The children who choose to skateboard as a sports activity have been overlooked in the provision of facilities within our community. They wish to have a safe and appropriate space to skate. In order to develop their athletic skills they need a quality facility. The youth of New Canaan will also reap many other benefits like exercise and being outside in a controlled environment.
