NFE = Alcohol-free !
Nowadays, many of young people's first experiences are happening through non-formal education (NFE) activities. Seminars, trainings, youth exchanges, in the own country or abroad are present in our lives more than ever.
Many of these activities are financially supported by the youth programmes from EU and the Council of Europe. They give the opportunity for many children and young people to gain life-long knowledge and experiences, and even more - to create life-long memories.
In order to make the non-formal education experience nice and inclusive for everyone, we would like to call for public support into making all the activities financially supported by EU and CoE alcohol-free. By introducing a small tick-box in the project applications, this can be made a reality!
We are launching this initiative at the beginning of the Children of Alcoholics week in order to put the focus on the 9 million Children of Alcoholics in EU - children and young people who live in families where one or both of their parents are addicted to alcohol. Sometimes, the non-formal education environments are the only safe haven for these children and young people - and we would like them to feel safe and happy :)
There are many respectable reasons why an individual does not consume
alcohol. And since non-formal education activities exist for the
friendships. the learning and for the memories, alcohol should not play a
key role in any gatherings of children and young people.
So sign up and support us into making NFE alcohol-free !
