Hi,
As you might be aware that NLCA has prematurely appointed the selection committee for the provincial tournament. They refuse to select a "neutral" selection committee in line with Manitoba cricket association. A few power mongers have placed themselves in a position to control the selection of the provincial team. The question each member has is that can a potential player remain unbiased when it come to his own selection? The answer is "NO". Each one of us thinks that we are the best and deserve to be on the team. It is a shame that instead of being fair and transparent they continue on their unethical ways of functioning. I truly believe that we can have small yet fair committee of 3 volunteers that do not want to participate in the provincial tournament.
On the same lines, we have all seen the unfairness in the division of the league teams. A few bad elements only have one purpose "WIN WIN WIN" at any cost. They select the best players in one team and leave the rest for the other 2 teams to divide. WE have been seeing this for the past 3 years and it is about time to bring it to a stop. The end result of this behavior has been group-ism, low morale and a general disinterest in participation by NLCA members. The tragic participation at the T40 match was a good example of the above.
We need to create a platform for healthy competition. Each team should get an equal opportunity to win the tournament. Moreover, shuffling players will increase team unity and harmony within the association. Why has the same team won the summer league everytime for the past 3 years ???? There will always be a few rotten apples let's not encourage them to spoil the good ones.
Therefore two things this petition is for:
a) Neutral Selection Committee (3 members)
b) Equal division of teams for leagues.
I urge each member of the association to sign this petition and make yourself heard.
Sincere NLCA Member
