No Dunkin Donuts on Archer Bonnell site. DND must go back to the RFP process!
The temporarily designated DUNKIN DONUTS project is slated to be built on the Archer-Bonnell site at the foot of Highland Park (Bartlett and Washington Street).
And as a resident, community leader and co-founder of the John Eliot Square neighborhood association (JESNA)- I am asking my neighbors to sign this petition and put a STOP to this FOOLISHNESS in our neighborhood!
Here are several reasons why:
• DIRECT ABUTTERS to this project were NOT NOTIFIED of prior meetings or designation
• There is absolutely NO COMMUNITY BENEFIT economically, artistically, job creation, quality of life
• There is NO PARKING PLAN for customers or workers
• NO LIVING WAGES for workers
• LITTER, RATS, ROACHES that this business would bring- ugg!
• UNHEALTHY PROCESSED SWEET FOOD in the neighborhood with the highest rate of Sugar Diabetes
• FRANCHISES are dangerous for our community! They stop small, “Mom & Pop” businesses from being established & growing organically in the community
• MORE TRAFFIC headaches
• It will work against the Bartlett Yard businesses and surrounding parcel development for Roxbury
• There is already an existing Dunkin Donuts in Dudley Square
• The City (DND) ignored the neighborhood's request for a score card on how each proposal was weighed

Respect the rights and wishes of the Neighborhood. Support local businesses, a living wage, healthy food choices, & prevent the spread of greedy corporations who try to exploit us, seeking to foist bad food & bad business models upon our communities. Roxbury DOES NOT 'run on Dunkin'.
Stop this project now. You will not circumvent the people of the John Eliot Square Neighborhood Association,(JESNA) nor will you trample on their rights. This is an egregious attempt to override the community's wishes, and it will not be tolerated. There is no benefit to this community.
DND process was flawed. Must rescind this designation of Waldwin/Dunkin'Donuts and do a transparent score process for all 3 proposals for Archer Bonell. Include the voice of all abutters in this process.
Dunkin Donuts would create major problems with regard to traffic and parking. As well as provide an unhealthy choice of food. The development does not provide home ownership but is renting around $2000/mo.
With strong community opinion in favor of a local business with roots in and benefits to the community for this spot, why were they turned down in favor of ANOTHER Dunkin' Donuts--just a few blocks away from an already existing one?
While I feel each human can make their own decisions about whether to eat food from Dunkin Donuts or not, the selection process (or lack thereof) for this project was seriously flawed. Traffic in that corner of the square is already a nightmare (Washington Street is one lane wide on that side of the street), there are clearly no community-related economic development benefits. there is no synthesis between this project and other community efforts to create a balance of wealth and investment. The city should go back to the drawing board on this project (and Bartlett, for that matter).
I oppose this terrible idea for our neighborhood. We do not need anymore crappy, unhealthy bad chains/ choices dumped in this neighborhood.

There is already a Dunkin Donuts serving Dudley Square. Another franchise in this location adds trash and other problems to a neighborhood that sees no benefit from this business.
