As we are moving through time, the threats of natural disasters, occurring periodically every year through worsening climate conditions, biological hazards, viruses and disease outbreaks, as well as of terrorist attacks are imminent. So, our focus is on replenishing the funds of the Public Health Emergency fund. The renewal of the fund will provide adequate and timely assistance for state and local government during disaster relief. The fund will relieve the burden of waiting for a state request, which further delays aid during crises. The health policy for the emergency fund was established in 1983, and the money was awarded to the PHEF. The fund was designated for public health emergencies. However, this account has not been funded since 2012!!!
