The placement of a large 540,000 gallon flammable gas distribution facility in proximity to residential housing, day care facilities, schools and high volume traffic roads is a threat to Clinton, Connecticut. Hammonasset Environmental Trust (a group of concerned CT citizens) urges Clinton's P&Z Commission to deny the Application on the grounds that: it proposes activities which are incompatible with the character of the surrounding neighborhood; it threatens to degrade real property values of neighboring citizens; the proposed activity is inconsistent with the Master Plan a/k/a The TownPlan of Conservation and Development, and the proposed activity proposes irreconcilable safety and traffic safety threats to residents in Clinton, CT and nearby Madison, CT.

NO WAY. This is a real danger to our families. P&Z needs to listen to the people for once instead of developers.

Has anyone seen the traffic study for this? Route 1 is already a nightmare during the summer and this will just make it worse.

This is way too close to homes and the school. We dont need a massive gas tank in the middle of our town. Keep Clinton safe!

Hi all, this is the response that I got back from iPetitions support regarding the signature counter: "The signature counter shows certain discrepancies when compared to the actual number of signatures, as our IT team is currently working on fixing the counter, so they have to reset it and reload it several times while working on it. It will eventually be sorted out, but, unfortunately, we cannot avoid its acting a bit weird for a little while until we have fixed it. Please note that no signatures have been lost in the process. Thank you and please accept our apologies".

Global LLC is proposing a propane storage facility in Clinton, CT.. If you think this will not have an affect on you simply because you don't live in the immediate vicinity, think again. There would 12 tanks with 45,000 gals. of propane per tank. That would be a total of 540,000 gallons of propane in a densely populated area along route 1, near I-95, by the railroad tracks and along the Hammonasett River. During peak season there is expected to be 20 large heavy trucks arriving and departing each day, 5 days a week from 7 am to 8 pm. This is a bad idea for so many reasons. Along with lowering real estate value in the area, increasing the traffic on an already over burdened Rt. 1, there should be a concern for potentially damaging and compromising local roads and bridges A 250 gallon propane tank has an explosive blast radius of 300 yards. An explosion from 540,000 gallons of propane would extend for miles. The possibility of an explosion due to sabotage, equipment malfunction or human error would be devastating to life, infrastructure, homes and the environment. A blast that size could change the course of the Hammonasett River. The reality is, if the potential is there, the possibility is there for an accident to occur. Common sense should prevail and conclude that this is simply not a good idea. Please attend the next meeting, July 7th at the Clinton Town hall to voice your opposition to this proposal.
