The proposed Kosher Beef Plant near Dwyer, along US 26, is not good for Platte County. The plant will employ 400 employees and slaughter up 3,000 head of cattle at max capacity. The negative impacts of this plant FAR outweigh any positive impacts it could bring to Platte County. Population issues, water usage and depletion problems, significant traffic increases, surging crime rates, waste management impacts, decreased property value, natural habitat consequences, viewshed disruptions, historic trail interference, infrastructure needs are just some of the problems this plant will bring to Platte County. If you are at all concerned about this and want to voice your opposition in this plant coming to Platte County, please sign this petition. Your signature is your voice!

This is not beneficial to our community. Attracting business that will actually benefit the community and give local youth a reason to stay should be the focus.

-There are not 400 working age people available to fill these positions in this county, Many local business owners are unable to find people to fill open positions and have been in this situation for months if not years. - There is not enough water to support 1.5 - 2 million gallons a year this facility will require, an additional 400 housing units/families and the existing community. - Platte County does not have the ability to support the immediate influx of 400 people/families with the existing healthcare or law enforcement available.

I am a land-owner in Dwyer and am concerned about the environmental impacts and the negative impact to the quality of life for Platte county and the area around Wheatland.

Not the type of business we want in our community. It would be better suited near a larger population with a more diverse workforce available.

We do not want this slaughterhouse in our community. The strain on our water resource will be immense and the environment that slaughterhouses bring to communities is not representative of our community values.

This is the worst thing to happen to our county! Take a look at the pig farm.. no local jobs and it stinks. Do they support our community’s ?

Kosher slaughtering is needlessly prolonged. "The animal may not be stunned prior to the procedure, as is common practice in non-kosher modern animal slaughter since the early 20th century." If there is indeed such demand for kosher meat, why can't orthodox jews fulfill this demand on their own? In the name of profit, are we going to go against contemporary guidelines for slaughtering animals humanely? The demand for kosher meat is largely confined to the east coast, are we really going to allow our property values to be decreased and our rural way of life to be altered to satiate the demands of an east coast, urban population that doesn't want to sully their hands w/ such nasty business?
