This petition is directed at: Irish Department of Transport: An Taoiseach Brian Cowen: Minister Éamon Ó Cuív: Galway County Council: Mr. Fran McEvoy: As a Community we would like to make the strongest possible case regarding the route and layout of the proposed R336 from Barna to Screeb. We wish to highlight the implications of all the designated routes on the Community and Connemara. We understand that the proposed routes are all part of the Galway Development Plan 2009-2015. We are highlighting the deep concerns regarding all the proposed routes as follows: 1. The Community don't understand the need for or want a new R336. 1. It will indiscriminately bulldoze and destroy individual family homes and land. 2. It will also divide all town lands, villages, communities, farms and families. 3. It will destroy the landscape, scenery and character of Connemara to facilitate this obscene dual carriageway. 4. It will decimate our unique language, culture and heritage, as further infrastructure and development will follow this new Dual carriageway. Community recommendation: 1. Improve and widen the existing R336. We would like you to please think about these concerns and recommendation immediately.
