Dear Huron School Board,
As freedom-loving South Dakotans, we oppose the requirement of students to wear masks in the 2021-22 school year. Each of us has different reasons and rationales behind our opposition, but we are united in the insistence that our students are not forced to wear face coverings at school or other school-related functions.
Furthermore, we know that the last Friday of September (9/24/2021) is when the government takes count of students to determine the amount of federal aid given to the schools (https://doe.sd.gov/ofm/enrollment.aspx). If the mask mandate is not lifted by the end of the next school board meeting (9/13/21), we will withhold our children from school on 9/24/21 so that they are not counted by the government.

Masking our children is doing more harm than good. Yes, some children become ill, but we don’t mask for outbreaks of flu or other viruses. Children now are hating going to school. Teachers are facing more challenges teaching with masks on and with masked students. Let herd immunity work.
Remove the masks they are hurting our children's mental health, you noticed children happier when they are not be forced to hide behind a mask. Leave it up to the parents to decide on their child's well being we know are kids best
My child has complained day after day that it's hard to breathe while wearing a mask. My son is in a pre-school and has medical issues and isn't required to wear them. My daughter would be able to fight covid where my son might not so why is she required to wear one but not him?
Instead spend the government money that you're going to get on an air purification system. Talk to a senior industrial hygienist on where to get one and the benefits of it versus a mask.
Mandating our children to wear masks is not only taking away their freedom of choice, but is also taking away their identity. Masks make it difficult for our children to learn facial expression and to interact.
