Dear Lake Somerset Residents,
My name is Brandon McClinchey, your Roads Chair on the Lake Somerset Property Owners Association board. As a board, our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our community members.
Today, I want to discuss a matter that affects us all – the speed limit on Northmoor Drive. Currently set at 45 mph, this limit was established before the construction of many homes along Northmoor. As our community has evolved, and with the goal of enhancing safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, we are considering another attempt for a reduction in the speed limit.
After attending township meetings and having discussions with our Township Supervisor, who also shares our concerns, we decided the best way forward was to demonstrate overwhelming community support on the topic of a reduced speed limit on Northmoor.
I live on Northmoor Drive and have brought to the attention of the township many times my concerns of the speed limit on this road being way too fast. There are children, walkers, runners, golf carts, pets, etc and people should not be going over 30 mph in my opinion in an area deemed legally as a subdivision in a lake community. I would greatly appreciate a speed reduction for safety purposes. People currently go 50 mph plus at times down this road and it's ridiculous.
