Dear Lake Somerset Residents,

My name is Brandon McClinchey, your Roads Chair on the Lake Somerset Property Owners Association board. As a board, our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our community members.

Today, I want to discuss a matter that affects us all – the speed limit on Northmoor Drive. Currently set at 45 mph, this limit was established before the construction of many homes along Northmoor. As our community has evolved, and with the goal of enhancing safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, we are considering another attempt for a reduction in the speed limit.

After attending township meetings and having discussions with our Township Supervisor, who also shares our concerns, we decided the best way forward was to demonstrate overwhelming community support on the topic of a reduced speed limit on Northmoor.

Updates

November 18, 2023

I have been reviewing the incident reports from Northmoor and the danger to our neighbors walking near the road is becoming impossible to ignore. Email the Township Supervisor today and demand a formal review of the speed limit. Send the link to this petition to your neighbors living on the north end of the development.

We hit a major milestone in our push to lower the speed limit on Northmoor. Now is the time to reach out to the Township Supervisor directly to ensure they feel the weight of this momentum.

I live on Northmoor Drive and have brought to the attention of the township many times my concerns of the speed limit on this road being way too fast. There are children, walkers, runners, golf carts, pets, etc and people should not be going over 30 mph in my opinion in an area deemed legally as a subdivision in a lake community. I would greatly appreciate a speed reduction for safety purposes. People currently go 50 mph plus at times down this road and it's ridiculous.

Even tho the speed limit is 25 on crestridge, commuters fly about 35-40. Now that Northmoor is built up, I think anyone with little ones would be happier with a slower rate of speed.

The speed limit of 45 is outright dangerous! As someone who walks around the lake daily, this is a road I hate walking the most! Posted 45mph means people are doing at least 50mph. And for a residential area is absurd!

We own 3 lots on Northmoor and we agree that the speed limit needs to be lowered.

As our community has grown and use by motor vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians has increased, the present 45 mph speed limit on Northmoor Drive has become a significant safety concern. In my view, the speed limit should reduced to 35 mph immediately. Thank you for you consideration

25 mph around the whole lake is a good speed in a neighborhood without sidewalks. Thanks Brandon.
