Urgent notice to Wits Officials and Students.

The academic and the residence accommodation year 2024 has begun for Wits students. It is no surprise that loadshedding has begun too, and this economic issue has persisted for more than 10 years. The university has been aware of this unfortunate circumstance and provisions have been made across the Wits campuses to ensure normal function of university services continue. This includes residences across the different campuses receiving generator supply. We as the students residing at a Wits residence, NOSWAL HALL, will not accept the poor efforts from University Accommodation Officials when it comes to providing a student-friendly, secure and comfortable living situation. The GENERATOR SUPPLYING the Noswal Hall Building should not only provide electricity power to the common areas but it should supply the STUDENTS' ROOMS too. The quality of WiFi connection is poor too, whereby online academic activities are disturbed by unstable signal and therefore we also request an IMPROVEMENT with the INTERNET NETWORK. The residence fees per year is comparably one of the expensive residences in the Wits circuit and there should be a budget in place for these services.

This petition serves as a urgent request from the registered students residing at Noswal Hall Residence to the Wits Officials to resolve the Generator partial supply and the poor Internet network signal.
