The current non‐ranking pilot policy at Westwood High School is neither expected nor acceptable. For students outside top 10% range:
- They are no longer eligible for assured admissions, for example, Texas A&M’s auto‐ admission for students rank in the 25% of their graduating class and meet SAT, ACT test score minimums;
- More stress instead of less is induced for hardworking students that strive for excellence;
- Students and Parents lose their right to know the relative status of student’s education.
We, the undersigned, are members of the Westwood High School Community (including its feeder
schools), request to modify the current non‐ranking pilot program to include publishing cut‐off
percentiles and making the rank information on the transcript available upon request.

I have been hearing from so many of you who are watching your kids stress over these college applications without any clarity on their own standing. I am spending my evenings drafting formal requests to the district office to demand transparency for our students. Please know that I am reading every single story you leave here and they are fueling the pressure I am putting on the administration.

Seeing the overwhelming response reminds me why I started this for my own child. The momentum right now proves we are not alone in demanding transparency for our hard working students.

The pilot significantly deciates from the parent proposal and strips off the choice of the students who are not in the 10% the right to know their ranking.
At least the top 25% should be ranked for students to take advantage of the Texas A&M assured program.
I'm totally against the decision of opting out of class ranking at RRISD. This decision will greatly hurt our children the chance of being admitted by colleges that still consider rankings. While the colleges are still using rankings as a factor for admission, RRISD schools are obligated to provide it.
It is the students' and parents' right to choose to include or not to include the ranking. The school district cannot make this decision without consulting the students and the parents!
While I support the pilot of not automatically publishing and providing rank, it is every kid/family's right to know if they request it. Many kids on the cusp of 10% or even 25% thresholds may want to know this info along the way if they desire to work to be inside of those %. It seems odd that the pilot would not provide this info upon the student's request.
I think students should have the right to opt-out of the non-ranking policy; that is students will be able to choose whether rankings will appear on their transcripts.
I thought schoolers should have right to access the record.

No-ranking system will affect the 10-50% ranking students' opportunities of admissions and scholarships. It's extremely unfair for these hardworking students. For these graduates, the ranking system will help them getting scholarships, and it will make our middle class family miserably without scholarships support. Please keep the ranking system available or as option if students prefer.
