Kildare County Council are proposing to build a new road to replace the N81 on the Hollywood to Tallaght route – A 27km stretch of road bypassing Blessington.There are a number of proposed routes. We support the development of a new road however, one of the routes, namely; "Route 6" would have a major negative impact on the community, causing residents of Blessington and surrounding areas to lose homes, farmland and essential businesses. Compulsory Purchase Orders will be issued. If "Route 6" is chosen, there would be a loss of access to Glending Forest; a recreational facility enjoyed by the people of Blessington and the surrounding area. "Route 6" would also cause pollution which could effect peoples health as well as causing environmental damage, and "Route 6" throws up other concerns too, such as noise pollution levels, in addition a major concern will arise about the protection of our children who would most certainly have their lives put at risk by the proximity of "Route 6" to their homes and gardens. Please sign this petition to object to "Route 6" and choose instead " Route 7" or the "do minimum option" .
