The zoning board officially denied the permit for the CVS development at the corner of Big Walnut Road and State Route 3. We have confirmed that the land will retain its current zoning designation. I will monitor future filings to ensure this outcome remains permanent.
We the undersigned residents do hereby submit our names in opposition to the rezoning and development of the land at 6921 Big Walnut Road, Galena, OH 43021 by CVS
Our objections & concerns for this project are noted below, but not solely limited to the following issues:
1.Severe impact on traffic flow at an already extremely busy intersection (expansion of a large retail operation in a neighborhood with an inordinate amount of parking (greater than 90 parking spots) and operational hours)
2.Safety-Pharmacy robberies up in every state -concern re crime
-safety of bikers using bike path currently under construction that will now cross the entrance and exit of the CVS
-potential for impact on Fire Department response time from department located at same intersection
3.Effect on property values
4.Added impact on Police Department due to need for increased surveillance
5.The existence of more than 4 pharmacies currently within a short drive meets and exceeds any needs for area residents
The scale of this response confirms the community opposition to the Big Walnut Road development. I have compiled the primary concerns regarding traffic safety and emergency response times to present to the zoning board during our upcoming presentation.

our property values will tank if this happens. nobody wants to live next to a giant retail parking lot.

Seriously? right next to the fire station? that is going to mess up emergency response times for sure. keep it out.

Think about the safety of those biking. Crossing a busy driveway is a disaster waiting to happen. Bad location.
