Subject: New Infrastructure development fee.
Ref : Circular no. ISM/PRN/090/2016-17
This is regarding the new infrastructure development fee planning to be introduced from 2017
– 18 academic year onwards. We received the above cited circular signed by you and found a
press report quoting Indian Schools BOD Chairman in this regard.
We have discussed in the last open forum about a contribution of RO.10/- each per child for
the construction of the new school at Al - Awabi. The proposal was to collect a one- time
contribution from all the students of Indian Schools in Oman. So that no extra financial
burden will come on ISM parents alone. The present facilities what we are enjoying in our
schools are contributed by our community in Oman. Therefore it is our moral responsibility to
contribute for the new school. We are firm on our words.
But where are your words and assurances. You have assured the following in the open forum.
1. Regular noting of the minutes of the meeting and uploading in the website.
2. Transparency in the School Management, particularly in financial side.
3. A special session of the Parents Open Forum to discuss the Parent sub-committee report
on the fee hike.
Therefore we, the Parents of ISM who signed below, would like to confirm the following
facts;
1. We are not ready to pay a recurring fee for the future years. Maximum we are ready
for onetime payment of OMR 10 ( Omani Rial Ten only )
2. This one also will not be a cash payment. The school is holding an excess fees of RO. 2/-
(Rials Omani 2 only) per month per child collected during last year. So each parent has
already contributed RO. 24 per child during last year and the school can transfer OMR
10 (Rials Omani Ten only) from that amount, as onetime payment, for the construction
of Al Awabi School.
(We will let you know about treatment of balance of RO.14 later).
In addition, we demand the following;
1. A special session of the Parents Open Forum to discuss the Parent sub-committee report
on the fee hike
2. There shall be a permanent set up to note the minutes of the meetings of the Parents’
open forum and to upload the same in school website without any delay.
3. The exact summary estimates of the projects approved by the BOD for which the
infrastructure development fund will be used.
we request ISM to introspect the actual situation again and adopt other way to raise infrastructure fees. if ISM can make the balancesheet, cashflow etc. available to all parents or on their website so that people can advise board for relevant cost cutting and that could also assist well for such need.
