Concerns have been rightly been raised about the increased danger of air pollution due to increasing volumes of traffic around Junction 33 of the M1. With the granting of planning permission for Applegreen's Motorway Service Area at this junction and the construction of a new lane at the end of the A630 Sheffield Parkway traffic volumes are only going to increase. The increase in congestion is expected by many critics of the service station to have a detrimental impact on the success of the Advanced Manufacturing Park and may even reverse it.

We'd like a short section of railway to be reopened close to Catcliffe, that passes between the suburb and the Advanced Manufacturing Park, opening up a new transport corridor to serve South Yorkshire. The new station in the old marshalling yards would benefit the new Waverly Development as well as Brinsworth and potentially act as new passing loop allowing for a greater capacity of trains passenger trains through South Yorkshire. With a rebuilt line through the old marshalling yards there is greater potential for rail freight too.

We fundamentally believe that reopening old railway lines is the most viable option for increasing the UK rail network's capacity. By putting the tracks back on the old lines we'll be recreating those local connections that people need most of all if we are going to encourage them to give up their cars for regular journeys.
