Open Brownies Bayfront Park
The town of Chesapeake Beach in Calvert County Maryland closed Brownies
to out of town residents which prevents people from accessing Bayfront
Park and we question if they have the legal right to do this. Brownies
on the DNR soft launch list for the State Of Maryland but they are
denying access, infringing upon our riparian rights. Their town code
says they own the water but they do not. They dictate where you can go
once on the beach and in the water, they prevent people from doing
things that are not illegal in the State Of MD. They have rules their
town citizens are not adhering to, they are not stopping their residents
from accessing another private beach. They are restricting access to a beach that is not theirs but yet their people are going.
They are preventing people from accessing a beach they do not own. We
would like our government officials to look into the funding the town of
Chesapeake Beach receives for Brownies, Bayfront, the boardwalk and the
surrounding area. If the town receives money from the County, the State
of Maryland or the Federal government, would that entitle other people
to use the beach or have a legal right of way?
