PETITION TO PREVENT THE SHEAF AND SICKLE, LONG LAWFORD BEING TURNED INTO A RESIDENTIAL DWELLING Organised by Pete McLaren of The Green, Long Lawford and TUSC County Council Candidate for Lawford & New Bilton
UPDATE - Thee Planning Application was approved at Committee on April 24 by 6 votes to 2 with one abstention - but the battle goes on
The Issue was originally reported in the Rugby Advertiser 18/04/13 - http://bit.ly/15nfu5z
It is reported again following the Planning decision - http://bit.ly/102UaeF
As you will read, the campaign goes on. The owner could be persuaded not to turn the pub into a private dwelling if public opinion continues to demand otherwise. And I refute the claim by Planning that 'Five tenants have been made bankrupt'.
Please keep signing the Petition!
We, the undersigned, oppose the planning application R12/0916 being the plan to change the Sheaf and Sickle Public House, Coventry Rd, Long Lawford into a residential dwelling
Our reasons are as follows:
1. Long Lawford is a quickly developing village in terms of house building, and it needs to expands the services and facilities available to residents, not cut back on them as this plan would do
2. There are no other community or leisure facilities in this part of the village, the part which happens to be where the newest houses have been, and are being, built
3. The Sheaf and Sickle Public House provided a community facility for the whole village of Long Lawford and its surrounding areas.
4. The Sheaf and Sickle was the only Public House with a restaurant providing food in the village
We therefore urge you to turn down the above planning application
