Please join with the Town of Scituate in opposing House Bill 6122. As you may know PWSB owns a significant amount of Real Estate in our community. As such, the town's ability to raise revenue through property tax is extremely limited. The passage of this bill could potentially make future negotiations for the towns revenue extremely difficult or impossible all together.

This bill exempts all property from local taxation and only requires "good faith" negotiation for payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT). Additionally, this bill proposes a board of directors which does not include a seat to represent the Town of Scituate despite the fact that our Town is the hosting community of the Scituate Reservoir. Without representation on this board the Town of Scituate cannot have any assurance that the actions of the board would be fair and reasonable and in the best interest of our community.
