Oregon IP 3 is an attack on a self-reliant lifestyle. It would create a 'no kill' sanctuary state, forcing Oregonians to a vegan diet or to have their meat and dairy products shipped in from other states, making us more reliant on the national food network for our food resources and less sustainable as a state. IP 3 will drive up food costs to Oregonians and increase food insecurity for many communities.
IP 3 seeks to change the Oregon animal abuse statutes to criminalize hunting, fishing, trapping, slaughtering animals for food, education and research with animals, wildlife management practices, and even trapping mice & vermin. It would classify breeding animals, to include domestic pets, livestock, and equine, as sexual assault.

A thousand signatures just popped up on the screen and I honestly had to blink twice because this is moving way faster than I imagined when I started typing this out in my kitchen. It is wild how many of you see exactly why this measure is such a threat to our independence because I was worried I was the only one losing sleep over the potential for these ridiculous laws to actually pass.

I just checked the dashboard and we somehow hit one hundred signatures already which feels absolutely surreal given how fast this whole thing started. It is honestly such a relief to see so many people who actually care about our livestock and our ability to feed ourselves without some massive overreach getting in the way (though I should probably go get some coffee because I have been staring at this screen for way too long now).

I am against IP3 it is against Agriculture, Dairy, Ranching, Fishing, and Hunting. If IP3 were to pass it would change Oregon Agriculture in an unthinkable way. Impacting the people who work in the industries it's affected by, and the animals in question.
It is an attack on our human rights to not be able to kill animals. Hunting and fishing are our passions and you are ripping them away. I do not buy meat from the grocery store and I only eat what I hunt and fish. Do not take away our livelihood. Humans are predators. It is such a natural thing to hunt. Do not take it away.
No to IP3. If this bill passes it's just another step towards being reliant on alternative resources like lab grown meat or being forced to buy meat from over seas. This will hurt our economy in a very large way.
I grew up hunting and fishing for food for our family. I raised hogs in 4-H for 8 years. My extended family owns cattle ranches. Eastern Oregon is a dream to be raised in and the people of Portland and Salem shouldn’t be allowed to change our way of life!
IP3 implies that animals have human rights, they do not. If people wish to be vegan, they may do so, but cannot force everyone else to do so. IP3 will drive up food prices across the state, impacting the poorest among us the most.
WTF!
Typical liberals trying to force their views on the whole state! If it doesn't pass I'm sure clown governor will try to force it down our throats like they like to do.

This would be devastating to our state. We need these fundamental rights here in Oregon! Not to mention that as a hunter I wouldn’t be able to bring home amazing food for my family that we can’t get in a store. Definitely a ‘no’ to IP3 for me!
