Have you ever wished that you could use your meal swipes at uptown eateries on campus like Wendy's, Bagel Street, or Ginger? This is a petition to submit to Ohio University to make this dream become a reality. The groundwork for this project is beginning and stakeholders, including the mayor of Athens, student senate, and the president of OU have been approached. There is support for it in some camps, but others need a little more convincing: that's where you come in! Feasibility research is being conducted to see if this is doable for the Athens area, but equally important is backing from the student body. If you would pay for a meal plan that could be used at both the dining halls and restaurants uptown then please sign this petition and send it on to your friends for them to sign as well. Let's keep working together to make the campus a better place for everyone and make our lives a little bit easier in the process.

OU's meal plan is non-competitive with other big names in Ohio. Having Court Street businesses on meal plans makes OU more competitive with other schools and could increase enrollment, benefitting everyone.

I think this should be a thing because there are academic buildings closer to these restaurants and students only have 10 minutes between classes and don’t have time to run to a close dining hall

I end up having a lot of swipes left over, and with the market being so expensive, you don't get the 'bang for your buck'. My friends and I would rather spend it on food we enjoy

I think it’s a great idea, as nice as the dining halls’ food is, it’s nice to go somewhere else for a change, and not have to waste meal swipes at the end of the week. This will give the restaurants more business, help the dining hall workers such as myself to not be overworked, and gives students a chance to use leftover meal swipes

I don’t even have meal swipes anymore as an upperclassmen but this is something that I really needed when I still had them. Cafeterias and cafes are not always open, due to certain class times, some kids only go with a meal a day if they make it in time.

Ohio University's policies give them an unfair monopoly on a large market demographic with great spending power. Let's stop OU from hurting small businesses and preventing Court Street-the lifeblood of our community-from thriving!
