OUTDOOR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PARK PETITION

We, the inhabitants of Mississauga believe it is vital that the city creates an outdoor area/park dedicated to physical activity. This area will be open to age groups ranging from young adults to senior citizens. We believe an outdoor area/park will help the citizens of Mississauga increase their overall health and wellness; an environment under the sun where we are not limited to the confinements of exercising indoors.

The architecture of this outdoor area/park would be extremely simple and practical consisting of exercise tools such as pull up bars, parallel bars and gymnastic rings.

The creation of an outdoor area/park that promotes physical activity would best suit the downtown Mississauga area. Targeting an area that has a high population would make it easily accessible to the public. Ideally, this would be around the Celebration Square area, where there are many current and newly developing housing communities. This area would be perfect because it is in the heart of Mississauga, where people near and far would travel to and take advantage of the park. This area will be a place widely associated with the cities outlook and promotion of healthy living and community. Encouraging creativity through physical activity will help develop leaders within the community, inspire co-operation amongst neighbours, improve physical wellness and create a constructive outlet for stress.

This area is a much-needed step in the right direction of physical activity and to insure that the people within the city of Mississauga are the healthiest they can be.

Sincerely,

Jesse Sandiford

In the past I've even gone as far as to email my ward's councillor asking if there were any in Mississauga. Want something like this so badly!

Hello, I'm the chairperson of the Mississauga Youth Action Committee and I definately see your vision with this! I used to go to Lake Aquaitaine to get a good morning workout as they had outdoor fitness equipment around the lake! I will be addressing this topic to the members of MYAC, as I'm sure youth will definately benefit from this being built in a central area!

Excellent idea to build park with pull up bars with possibly many different variations of them as in different hand placements heights n sizes of bars. Parallel bars would be great as well good way to promote health and fitness

Physical activity is a vital component of a healthy, balanced lifestyle of both body and mind. An outdoor park area dedicated to fitness and physical wellness will provide valuable opportunities for community members to exercise and build strength and resilience, which in turn will pay off in the form of a healthier, more active community.

An outdoor park that promotes physical activity would encourage families in Mississauga to be active together! I think it would also increase the usage of our parks!

The park on Lakeshore/Ellis constantly draws attention from nearly everyone passing by. Easy to follow instructions welcome people to give some exercises a try. Calisthenics fanatics like myself are often there helping others learn techniques or to demonstrate for photos and videos. I would guarantee my presence there at least 5 days a week as I live five minutes away from Celebration Square.

It might be something worth our tax money for once.
