Children are private citizens.Facebook has irresponsibly left their age requirement to sign up on Facebook as the minimum age of 13 years of age, way way too young to get involved in social networking. We as adults members of Facebook are tired of babysitting and are tired of getting emails and messages from minors who are trying to contact us adult members. If the parents are not watching their children, and keep giving them access to possible danger ( child predators for an example), Facebook needs to step up and protect the children by not letting them on their social networking site. Adult members cannot really sell or promote their product or services to minors anway, because they have to get the permission of an adult. Why have them on a social networking site, when they are constantly ignorant of the privacy laws. Facebook needs to also add better privacy settings where we can block children, spammers from access to our pages. Minors, don't realize the importance of their safety, and unfortunately some of their parents don't seem to even watch out for themselves either. Quit making it easy for criminals, and hard for the parents to keep up with their child's "secret activities". Children are not in touch with their skin, and are not aware of danger, because they feel they have their whole life ahead of them. Please sign this petition, if you would like to take a stand with millions who feel that Facebook should make a change to their age requirement. Children need to learn how to socialize in normal face to face interactions where they know and see who they are interacting with. Not on a computer with an individual who they can not totally verify. As responsible adult members of Facebook, take a stand... Most of these kids are smart enough to add and subtract to lie about their age, and some of their parents don't use parental block... Ask Facebook to up the age requirement to 18 years of age... We want to socialize with adults, not children... Facebook needs to do just more that just be no face when protecting the enviroment of their website. Make Facebook show their face for once!
