Administration of NYPH: Continue to provide a space for affordable early childhood education & enrichment classes
The PAA is the parents association affiliated with the NYPH community. We are more than 200 member-families strong and serve more than 300 children of medical students, residents, fellows, attendings, nurses, and staff of NYPH, Weill Cornell, Rockefeller University, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.
We currently have a classroom in Staff House, where we have provided outstanding education and enrichment classes to NYPH-affiliated families for the last 10 years. These classes are coordinated by parent volunteers, and have filled an important void in our community where only 1 in 8 children are offered a spot in public pre-k and private pre-school programs are more expensive than most hospital families can afford.
Staff House is scheduled for demolition this coming June and the Hospital has not yet provided another location for us. The loss of this one room will result in Hospital staff and trainees losing access to over 50 hours a week of affordable early education and enrichment classes that are currently available to their children.
Please sign this petitionasking the administration of NYPH to continue to provide dedicated space to the PAA so that we can continue to offer these early education classes for our families who would not otherwise have access to these outstanding educational experiences for their children.
Dear Administration of New York-Presbyterian Hospital,
We ask you to continue to provide a classroom space to the Parents Association (PAA) in order for them to provide excellent and affordable early childhood education and enrichment classes.
The PAA classroom is currently in Staff House, where we have provided outstanding education and enrichment classes to NYPH-affiliated families for the last 10 years. These classes are coordinated by parent volunteers, and have filled an important void in our community where only 1 in 8 children are offered a spot in public pre-k and private pre-school programs are more expensive than most hospital families can afford.
As you know, Staff House is scheduled for demolition this coming June and the Hospital has not yet provided another location for these classes.
Without these classes, most hospital families would not be able to afford these experiences for their children. We urge you to provide this nominal space which provides so much benefit to so many employees, trainees, families, and children of our hospital community.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
