This petition's intent is to fix the situation with the classes that take place in Paramita Hall.
- The heat in the classroom is not tolerable.
- The air conditioning in this class is not working.
- The windows can not be opened.
- The classes are long.
- It is important to keep the doors shut due to the sensitive nature of personal sharing that occurs in class.
- The MACPBP cohorts can be as large as 35 people.
- The fan is not a real solution. It is noisy and does not help.
- It is a health risk to breathe air that is low on oxygen and high in carbon dioxide.
- This situation reduces the ability to focus and stay present with the material.
- This situation has been brought to the attention of faculty many times and has not been solved.
- The air conditioning in the classroom worked for the first week of the current semester and broke down. Nothing was done after that.
- Naropa holds itself to a high standard of education, and the environment should reflect this high standard.
We ask that this matter be taken seriously and for the problem to be fixed with one of the following actions:
1. Fix or replace the air conditioner in Paramita Hall.
2. Change the classroom for all the classes that currently take place in Paramita Hall to other classrooms which are big enough for 35 people. Ensure that next semester's classes will not be in Paramita Hall until the air conditioning is fixed.
Paramita in Sanskrit means perfection. There is nothing perfect about this classroom nor the lack of attention that has been given to this problem so far.
Please fix Paramita Hall ASAP!
