Parking on Fairfield Park Road, Leckhampton, Cheltenham
Background:
For many years, a local businessman associated with the motor industry and his family who are not residents of the road and whose associated motor business is in another part of town, have been leaving/dumping multiple vehicles ranging from 6 - 10 plus vehicles including large vans and cars - in the road at either end of the road almost indefinitely/ for great periods of time. Over recent years, the situation has become worse so that at one end of the road it is almost become their own personal car park. Weeds/moss etc has been growing up under one particular vehicle which rarely, if ever, moves.
In the spirit of good will, local residents have tried approaching a relation of the person leaving the vehicles who lives on the adjacent road, who when approached has been hostile to any suggestion of compromising and reducing the number of vehicles left in Fairfield Park Road.
The local council, borough council, environmental health have all been contacted but because the cars are taxed and MOT'd they are not legally doing anything wrong so they are limited in what can be done legally even though it is anti-social and anti-community behaviour.
The local council has visited the relation in the spirit of good will to see if a compromise could be reached. But since being approached the number of vehicles being left actually has got worse with some extremely large vans being left.
Allegedly, all the vehicles are for his own personal use. However, a great deal of time is spent moving these vehicles up and down the road from either ends at times when local residents are unlikely to spot i.e. dusk/mid-morning. We are looking to fact find as it is hard to believe that all the vehicles are for his own personal use, considering we have clocked up over 20 different vehicles recently - what with car tax, insurance and MOT costs? Allegedly, vehicles are also being left on roads/streets in the Fairview area around the motor business associated with the person leaving the cars in Fairfield Park Road. And we have spotted cars being left on roads adjacent to Fairfield Park Road.
Aim of this petition:
To make other local residents aware of why parking is becoming more difficult in the area, to prevent this anti-social and selfish behaviour from continuing and for the removal of the vehicles associated with the person from Fairfield Park Road and adjacent roads.
By signing this petition, you are confirming support of the above aims.
Many thanks for your support.
