Help Pavel Kulisek
On March 11, 2008, Canadian businessman Pavel Kulisek was arrested in Los Barriles and is now held in a maximum-security detention facility in Guadalajara, Mexico facing charges of drug trafficking, promoting drug trafficking and assisting members of organized crime. These charges are totally unfounded and there is no evidence linking Pavel Kulisek to any crime. The arrest was directed at Gustavo Rivera Martinez, who is one of the FBI's most wanted men and kingpin of the Tijuana cartel. Locally, Martinez was known by his false alias Carlos Herrera; he was well-respected in the community. Martinez was arrested on March 11, 2008 having dinner at a restaurant. Mr Kulisek was also at the restaurant and arrested. Pavel Kulisek is innocent and only learned of Herrera's criminal ties and activities upon his arrest. Pavel just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Mr. Cruz, Pavel Kulisek's lawyer, predicts it may take more than a year before the case may even go to trial. Pavel Kulisek is currently languishing in Guadalajara's maximum-security prison, suffering from poor hygienic and sanitary conditions. We urge Canadian authorities and government officials to exert pressure and help expedite Pavel Kulisek's legal proceedings in Mexico.
