Final supporters
If you live in, work in or even just visit Southwold you will already be aware of the lack of parking during the summer months! Well of course I understand any busy town has this problem, but when you work a 10-12 hour day in an extremely busy environment and then come out to find you have a parking ticket because you've parked to long somewhere or you've spent a good half an hour trying to find a space in the morning and manage to park but just over onto a yellow line, it makes you feel like your constantly wasting your time even just trying to make a living! My proposal to solve this problem.... parking permits for those employed in the shops and pubs of Southwold! Surely this would not be that much of a hardship for the council to print a few extra pieces of paper to give the hard workers of the town a break!
If you agree please sign! I plan to approach the council with my proposal and if I get no where I will continue to raise awareness to the problem until our voices are heard! We all work hard to keep our beautiful town thriving so i feel we all deserve this little bit of help in return!

I really did not think this would gain this much steam when I first typed it out in a total whirlwind of frustration after getting another ticket. Seeing so many people from the local shops feeling the exact same daily stress honestly makes me feel a lot less crazy.

I work in a busy Salon within the high street, I do believe that parking permits for those that live and work in Southwold would benefit greatly by holding parking permits as long as the cost is reasonable to both.. we have no other option but to come to Southwold to work in our cars as the bus network doesn't actually cater for the working times of all businesses within the town.
This is a fantastic idea of is a nightmare trying to park especially if you work an afternoon shift. I have volunteers who take an hour sometimes to park at peak times.
I work at the red lion in Southwold as a chef,I get to work for 9 every morning and during the summer period there isn't anywhere to park even at this time of the morning,the reason behind this is simple,yes we are a tourist town and the people that come here on holiday leave there cars here for weeks on end! Something does have to be done because it's not fair on the local working class
I am a carer working in the community in Southwold, it is terrible trying to park in town in an already busy schedule.
I no longer work in Southwold but often had to leave an hour early so I could walk to work if no spaces available. ..not what you need after a long shift in your feet the whole time!
Spot on . Free parking for Residents and Workers in specific zones . Paid permit parking for Holiday let visitors
This problem is becoming worse with the unprecedented increase in the numbers of day trippers. Work and residents' parking permits, or addtional vsitors car parks would help relieve it.

I used to live & work in Southwold & it would regularly take us an hour or more to find a parking space. It's a huge, frustrating issue, especially when so few of the houses come with any sort of parking space. A new, residents & workers only car park would be a way to solve the problem.
