All Old Girls of Pretoria High School for Girls, and those who love art need to take a stand against the selling of this J.H. Pierneef(1886-1957) oil on canvas "Cultivated Fields", 1926, 90 x 120cm that is up for sale at Strauss & Co. next Auction on 10 November 2014. This artwork was given to the school as a gift from Pierneef in 1926 for giving him the opportunity to use the hall as an exhibition space. This is an artwork of great heritage to the school and to South Africa and it should remain in the hands of the school. It was the Governing Body's decision to auction the artwork and sad that they did not make the public aware of this before it was put on auction.
