We, the undersigned, Residents and Taxpayers of the Town of Hamburg strongly protest the proposed elimination of Video Lottery Terminal appropriations for the Town of Hamburg.

Our Town is challenged with a struggling commercial property tax base, and significant infrastructure expenses that we must incur. The loss of almost $866,000 of annual fees is a significant blow to all of us, as hardworking and decent people who strive every day to do the right thing.

Governor Cuomo, restore the money without further delay.

Please include your name and address in the comments. I look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Supervisor James Shaw

This commercial property is in the backyards of all of us who live in the Town of Hamburg. We pay for the surrounding infrastructure. We depend on local commercial revenue to remain local. Please restore the $866,000. Thank you.

Hamburg agreed to host this gaming business and the benefit to the taxpayers was receipt of its portion of the revenue from sales. I’m a Democrat Governor, but you are going to lose my loyalty if I can’t count on you to honor an agreement.

There are a lot of seniors in this town, as well as struggling young parents (among the many others) who can ill-afford any additional burden. Why is the answer always taxes? How does this enhance the "Governor’s Middle Class Recovery Act?" Please reconsider.

This new way to balance the budget on the back of a small town is wrong. The casino is the second largest taxpayer in town after the mall. The mall which is now closing due to bankruptcy. This town can’t afford this loss of revenue. They pay for the extra police to support the casino

The Governor’s proposed budget will eliminate a much needed and deserved revenue from video lottery terminals located at the Hamburg Casino. The Casino, which is exempt from property taxes, is a drain on Town provided services.

This money is intricate in keeping the Town of Hamburg’s ability to deliver key services to its residents. Most importantly it helps cover the cost the Town incurred while answering calls for police and fire services to the Racino.
