PETITION FOR REVIEW OF PTA GOVERNANCE PROCEDURES AND CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM

Background

Recent events concerning the resignation of the PTA Chairperson have highlighted significant procedural irregularities and constitutional gaps that require immediate attention. This petition seeks to address these issues and establish stronger governance frameworks for our school community.

### Statement of Concerns

1. **Procedural Violations:**

- The Executive Committee initiated actions against the Chairperson without proper Board oversight

- The alleged vote of no confidence lacked constitutional basis

- Proper channels for review and appeal were not made available

- Communication to the broader PTA membership was insufficient

2. **Constitutional Gaps:**

- Lack of clear procedures for leadership challenges

- Absence of checks and balances in executive decision-making

- Insufficient protection against arbitrary removal of elected officials

- Need for stronger oversight mechanisms

Formal Requests

We, the undersigned members, formally request:

1. **Immediate Actions:**

- Disclosure and review of all documentation related to the no-confidence vote

- Suspension of any leadership changes pending full review

- Convening of an Extraordinary General Meeting within seven (7) days

- Written explanation of the Executive Committee's actions

2. **Procedural Reform:**

- Establishment of a Board of Directors comprising:

* Non-executive parent representatives

* Term-limited positions

* Clear oversight responsibilities

* Transparent decision-making processes

3. **Constitutional Amendments:**

- Implementation of formal procedures for leadership challenges

- Creation of appeal mechanisms

- Institution of mandatory membership consultations for major decisions

- Development of clear communication protocols
