The Commissioner actually pulled the plug and said no to the RV park plans because he listened to us for once. I am still kind of in shock that our 129 names did the job but we really need to keep our eyes open in case someone else gets a …

Petition to Commissioner Blake Elsberry April, 2021

We the undersigned are interested in the quality of Life in Chattooga County, Georgia, the preservation of its natural beauty and resources and the efficient use of its limited financial and economic assets. We are asking the Commissioner not to approve any future request to designate any portion of Chattooga County private lands as a Recreational Vehicle Park, limiting those in the future to State and National Park lands that are adequately funded and staffed for the long term. This includes requests to place Tiny Homes known as THOW’s (Tiny Home on Wheels) and Park Model RV’s (PMRV), as well as campers and motorized RV’s in such private areas. All of these designated units are manufactured for limited use as Seasonal, Occasional, or Emergency use only and do not meet the State of Georgia building code requirement. We believe any designation of these type areas will eventually become an eyesore to the community and a drain on the police, fire and medical assets and other expense to the community, harm the natural environment and eventually subject those living in such units to unwarranted risks associated with the lack of adequate building codes. Respectfully Submitted.

I really thought this might just fizzle out in a quiet corner of the internet but seeing how many people actually care about our woods and the long term future of the county is honestly overwhelming in the best way. My phone has been buzzing non stop and it makes me feel like we might actually have a shot at keeping these big corporate interests from turning our home into a patchwork of temporary trailer lots.

Enough is enough. Protect our land and stop turning private property into low quality campgrounds.

Seems like a bad idea for safety reasons too. Those units arent meant for permanent living. Keep the zoning laws strict.

Please listen to the residents! We moved here for the peace and quiet and the nature not to be surrounded by tiny homes.

Exactly. Just makes more work for the police and fire dept when things go wrong. Dont let this happen.

YES. These parks are just gonna be a magnet for trash and extra strain on our emergency services. Stop it now.

Keep our county beautiful. We dont need these parks popping up everywhere and ruining the landscape for everyone.
