Whereas, the Collier County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board sent an email to all permit holders on September 11, 2021, notifying them of drastic reduction in available parking spaces at all Collier County Boat ramps;
Whereas, the regular meeting of Collier County Parks & Recreation Advisory Board conducted on September 15, 2021 notified all attendees that the City of Marco Island issued the opinion that commercial activity out of Caxambas Park is not within the scope of the Park’s allowable uses;
Whereas, Collier County Parks & Recreation director, Barry Williams, said all commercial launch permits out of Caxambas Park will expire December 31, 2021 and will not renew short of a joint agreement with the City of Marco Island to re-zone the park to allow for commercial activity;
Whereas, the sudden dramatic termination of permits affects the livelihoods of operators as well as the peaceful enjoyment of recreational activities in and around Marco Island and the Ten Thousand Islands by residents of Collier County and countless tourists alike;
Therefore, We the People, living in Collier County, Florida and lawfully operating businesses out of Caxambas Park, formally call upon the City of Marco Island to meet with the Collier County Commissioners to take swift action and employ whatever measures necessary to allow for the continued peaceful commercial use of the boat ramp at Caxambas Park.

This needs to be rethought. Aside the livelihoods of many people these tours are big attractions to Marco island. This is short sighted and there needs to be consideration given to additional parking or launching facilities being built around this area.
Keep the access to business, but maybe limit them. Some tour operators have been doing it for years and are very knowledgeable, others seem to be fly by night, I have seen one that was delivering electric rental cars as well as wave runners.
We try to come to Marco Island every year for my birthday shelling tour. We spend money to eat in this area and we sometimes stay at a hotel in this area for a week. We spend a ton of money in the Marco Island. Shelling is the ONLY reason we come to Marco Island!
We need this! My husband is the sole provider of our family of four. Please do not take this away from us. This is his passion and the only thing he knows. If we lose this, we lose everything we have worked so hard for. Lynsey Gill
Keep the docks open for commercial businesses. These businesses bring tourism to your city & county, but they also do a great job of cleaning the garbage up and ensuring that wildlife is taken care of. These businesses are an asset to your community.
Jet skis can easily operate out of goodland. I don’t see the problem with letting commercial kayak businesses operate out of caxambas.
I have been coming to Marco Island for 30 years to go on captain Ron's tours if no more tours I will not be coming back to Marco Island.

I worked in city and county environmental health for 15 years enforcing knee jerk laws like this. If there's a problem then resolve it by looking at both sides and coming up with a reasonable solution. If you don't it will bring more problems, not less.
