Petition to increase the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program in NYS from $1,000 to $5,000.
The Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program is a federally funded grant program in NYS administered by NYS DEC. Around the nation these awards can range from $5,000 to $15,000 in some states. But not NY! $1,000 barely covers the administrative costs to run the project and arrange for an on-sight visit by a NYS Forest Ranger. $1,000 will not even pay for one set of firefighting personal protective equipment. Lets make this grant program worthwhile and not the waste of time it is.
JSK Inc is NY's largest fire grant writer and we want our clients, and all NYS firefighters to obtain as much as federal funding as possible.

Please support our need to increase funding for the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program administered by the NYS DEC to enable agencies in need an opportunity to gain more from this program, as other States currently achieve.

1000 bucks is a joke, doesnt even cover half a turn out coat anymore. we need this increase so our guys can actually afford gear.
