The Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program is a federally funded grant program in NYS administered by NYS DEC. Around the nation these awards can range from $5,000 to $15,000 in some states. But not NY! $1,000 barely covers the administrative costs to run the project and arrange for an on-sight visit by a NYS Forest Ranger. $1,000 will not even pay for one set of firefighting personal protective equipment. Lets make this grant program worthwhile and not the waste of time it is.
