BACKGROUND: Certain Aerospace OEMs are withholding DATA from independent MROs, FAA-PMA producers, and part stockists. (Data includes but is not limited to CMMs, IPCs, Manual Revisions, Service Bulletins and critical repair & overhaul data.) Withholding critical R&O data directly effects the flight safety of repaired components and replacement parts. Denying affordable access to data will ultimately force MROs, FAA-PMA suppliers and aftermarket part dealers out of business and thereby reduce airlines MRO provider options. PETITION: We, the Aviation MROs, Airlines, FAA-PMA Suppliers & Replacement Part Dealers/ Aviation Interest Groups / Stakeholders / Independent A&P Mechanics : Call upon OEMs to immediately end these anti-competitive practices by making complete repair data affordably available to the aviation aftermarket and eliminate restrictive covenants as to distribution and dissemination. Call upon the FAA, in the interest of flight safety, to mandate that the OEM provides that data to the aviation aftermarket at nominal cost. Call upon our industry trade associations, including ARSA, ASA, MARPA, and the others to rally the support of their memberships to bring pressure on the OEMs and FAA to accomplish this action.
